Motivational Meditation Monday: Keep Calm & Whatever

"Sometimes you just gotta let S*** go & say to ‘hell with it’ and move on" – Eminem

Meditation

Sometimes in life you just got to say “whatever.” When someone hurts you, when you don’t get the job, or when you make a mistake, it’s OK sometimes to just say “whatever” and move on. Worrying or trying to control the person, place, or thing that has you twisted isn’t going to make that situation better, and most of the time, it’s not going to make you feel better. We burn energy foolishly trying to make life suite our needs when really we need to just say whatever.

Life can be messy and unpredictable, and so are the people in it. We are not perfect and many of us make mistakes, we hardly would be human if we didn’t, but we cannot let that control our lives. When we focus on the negative things in life, it can become a very dark place. We have a tendency as addicts and alcoholics to not only visit those dark places, but hang out awhile in it. Until it causes us enough pain, and those around us pain, we generally don’t do anything about it. We let these people, places, and things influence our lives, choices, and thoughts. We give power over to them, or it, and become shocked when we are affected in a negative way. What we are doing is taking our will back and letting the outside world play our Higher Power.

Whatever negative thought or action you are allowing yourself to believe at this very moment, it’s time to say “whatever” and move on. Do not react, overthink, or try to control; just say let it be. Take this moment to breath, give the power back to your Higher Power, and focus your energy your recovery. It’s not your concern what the results are, you are just about the action. Try to be the best person you can be today and say "whatever" to the rest of the stuff.
