Testimonial: Amy A.

My name is Amy and I have been clean and sober since April 4th 2007. I wanted to write you and let you know that without the Watershed I would be dead. You all have given me the tools to cope with not only everyday life but the sharp turns that life sometimes takes.

Last year my daughter became ill and was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. They wouldn’t let me take her home from the hospital until I was able to give her the insulin shots she needed to survive. With sweat rolling down my back, I was able to load that syringe and administer the insulin to my daughter while convincing her it was no big deal and I would make everything as easy as possible for her. It was the hardest thing I had done since I made the phone call to the Watershed and asked for help!

Since then my daughter and I have grown closer than ever. We have started a hiking club for teenagers, we go to the library together, I’m volunteering at her school, and I helped chaperone her class trip to Space Camp. I could never have done any of these things while on drugs. Watershed helped me get my life back and for that I am grateful every day.

My new goal is to go back to school and become a drug counselor for teenagers. I hope to help steer young people away from drugs before it does as much damage to them as it did to me.

Bless every one of you!
