Your personal recovery plan will be based on the proven methods of medicine, psychiatry and psychotherapy combined with the time tested 12-Step program of AA and NA. The philosophy at the Watershed is to blend continuous, intensive, structured care with the proper support system. Each Watershed patient is introduced to an appropriate 12-Step Fellowship and given the opportunity to attend daily 12-Step Support Group meetings, both in house and in the community.
As you achieve the goals of your individual treatment plan, you will take on more responsibility... and you will help others along the way.

Our 24-hour nursing, medical and psychiatric staff is here to ensure a safe and effective, medically monitored detoxification for those acute patients requiring only the best in acute patient care.
Our staff has many years of experience in treating patients afflicted with alcoholism and addiction even when complicated by psychiatric illness.
The Watershed is proud to practice excellence in addiction care. We are committed to a higher standard and insist upon utilizing the ASAM best outcome criterion for addiction treatment which has consistently earned us JCAHO (Joint Commission on Hospital Accreditation) Gold status at all of our facilities.
The Watershed's staff and facilities are equipped to handle a wide range of medical issues that would be beyond the capabilities of most other treatment facilities. The Watershed routinely treats people with asthma, blindness, diabetes, heart disease hypertension, seizure disorders, and HIV and AIDS. The Watershed is also handicapped accessible.

Family Therapy
|
The Watershed recognizes that addiction is a family disease that affects the whole family. Family members are taught that they didn't cause it, they can't cure, but that they can contribute to the recovery of their loved ones. Patient's are helped to address their own co-dependency issues. Families are aided in repairing the damage caused by the addicts disease. Regularly scheduled "Family Therapy Workshops" are offered free of charge.

Each patient at The Watershed receives intensive individual counseling and psychotherapy. This individual treatment plan is tailored to each patient's specific needs.

With each accomplishment, more independence and requirements are given and more success expected.
Throughout the entire Watershed Journey, life issues are addressed through engaging educational workshops on stress spirituality relationships, assertiveness training and the like.

The Watershed maintains an acute medical detoxification program within it's main facility. Our detox is staffed 24 hours a day by a staff of licensed medical professionals. Patient's requiring intensive care during detox are placed in CCTV monitored rooms.

The Watershed's primary care program's combine the best elements of 12-Step Recovery, chemical dependency education, and psychotherapy. We believe this combination offers our patients the best pathway to recovery. Our therapists are licensed mental health practitioners, certified addiction professionals, and other professionals in the field of addiction treatment.

Jason M. Jerry, M.D. is the Medical Director of the Watershed Addiction Treatment Programs and supervises all psychiatric services at The Watershed. He is a board-certified Psychiatrist with expertise in addictionology and is certified by the American Society of Addiction Medicine. He is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Toledo and received his M.D. from the Medical College of Ohio.
Dr. Jerry completed his residency training in Psychiatry at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Medical where he served his last year as Chief-Resident. With his extensive experience in treating a large chemically dependent population during his residency training at one of the nation’s busiest psychiatric emergency rooms, he made the decision to devote his career to the treatment of addictions. His interests include the neurobiology of addiction, psychiatric co-morbidities, and psychotherapeutic approaches to the treatment of chemical dependency.

Treatment is accompanied by recreational activities that teach the patient's that fun is possible without the use of drugs and alcohol. The following is a partial list of activities:
