E-Cigarettes Being Used To Smoke Weed

2013 seems to be the e-cigarette boom, and overnight has become a multi-billion-dollar industry. Most e-cigarette smokers claim to use these devices as a safer alternative to smoking cigarettes, even if there has been no solid proof that it’s in fact safer. What people may not be aware of is that some are using e-cigarettes for illegal drugs. Marijuana E-CigarettesE-cigarettes, also known as e-cigs or vape, have become as readily obtainable as your average pack of smokes. Since there is no ban or regulations at the moment on e-cigarettes, you can pretty much smoke them anywhere. This is because e-cigarettes don’t expel smoke, but rather vapor. Drug abusers are actually using this to their advantage. Most recently, Youtube videos have been gaining popularity on how to use e-cigarettes to get high off drugs, even going as far as giving reviews on certain models. What Is An E-Cigarette?An e-cigarette is mixture of propylene glycol, and/or vegetable glycerin, and/or polyethylene glycol combined with concentrated flavors, and liquid nicotine concentrate. E-cigarettes have not yet been evaluated by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) which is why there is no real evidence that smoking e-cigarettes is safer, that suggestion comes from the product makers. Smoking Joints Are Old SchoolIt’s no secret that there are devices out on the market, especially at head shops, that are designed specifically to smoke weed. One is called the one-hitter, which oddly resembles a cigarette, to help mask the fact that the drug abuser is smoking marijuana rather than nicotine. With so many e-cigarettes being used by the public it was only a matter of time before the trend of smoking marijuana became more prevalent. Tobacco Vapor Electronic Cigarette Association Takes ActionThe Tobacco Vapor Electronic Cigarette Association, TVECA, states that they are pushing for regulation that would ban the sale of vaporizers used for smoking marijuana and as well as other drugs. Even with these regulations in place, it will still be difficult to stop drug abusers from finding new ways of getting high without getting caught. The best way to prevent drug abuse and use is through education and prevention tactics.
