#DetoxMonday: Easy Does It

Slow down. Relax. Breathe. Easy Does ItLet’s take a moment right now to stop for a second, relax, and breathe. If you have trouble with this, please feel free to check out this article, “Breathing Exercises To Maximize Meditation Practice.” Just because we get clean and sober doesn’t mean we don’t have racing thoughts or anxiety, it just means that we have the tools now to handle those thoughts and fears. The other reality is that obsessing over our fears will not make them go away, it actually will make them bigger, which makes us more fearful and thus we obsess even more. The only way to break this cycle is to take action. Action can come in many forms, maybe it’s being of service or going to your support group. Maybe it means getting out and having some fun with friends or maybe it’s just getting the proper rest that your body and mind need. Each person is facing different battles, but whatever that action is that you need to take to help you balance out and stop obsessing, you might want to try it today. Aren’t sure what that action might be? Ask your sponsor, spiritual guide, therapist, or close friend. Sometimes it just takes a few small words from someone who not only understands us, but also has our best interest in mind to help us get on the path that we should be taking. You can even ask all of them to get a well-rounded answer. This along with your own prayer and meditation will help you find the solution you are looking for. All we have is today – this very moment – so easy does it. The more we turn our will and our life over to the care of our fear, the moment that we regret the past and fear the future. Just for today, turn your life and your fears over to a power greater than yourself and take action! Written By: Recovery Gal
