Group Counseling at The Addiction Recovery Center
Group therapy at The Addiction Recovery Center’s rehabilitation center is a form of psychotherapy that is guided by a trained addiction therapist and attended by you and other addicts in recovery.
In these sessions, you will be asked to confront your personal problems with assistance from your peers and provide and solicit constructive feedback regarding destructive behavior. We have found through experience that these small groups are highly effective in helping our patients to discover and address the origins of their addictions.
Group therapy at The Addiction Recovery Center’s substance abuse treatment facility is as diverse as our patient population. Topics include:
- Family of Origin Issues
- Relapse Prevention
- Women’s Issues
- Men’s Issues
- Education
- Meditation
- Goals and Progress
- Psychiatric Issues/Medications
During group counseling, group members support and help one another cope with life without using drugs or alcohol. They share their experiences, talk about their feelings and problems, and find common bonds through this supportive form of therapy. Please see our Family page for further information.
The Addiction Recovery Center’s Individual Counseling and Psychotherapy
When an addict begins treatment, individual counseling generally focuses on motivating the person to stop using drugs or alcohol. As treatment progresses, counseling shifts to helping the person stay drug and alcohol free.
In addiction treatment at our rehabilitation center, individual counseling and psychotherapy is best used as an adjunct to the group therapy process. Each patient at The Addiction Recovery Center’s drug and alcohol treatment facility receives at least one individual session with their primary therapist per week. Additional counseling sessions with their adjunct therapist and primary therapist may be done as needed.
The philosophy at The Addiction Recovery Center is to blend continuous, intensive, and structured care with the proper support system. The level-system of care will help you earn your life back as you make progress in your personal recovery plan. Throughout the entire Watershed journey, life issues are addressed through engaging educational workshops on stress, spirituality, relationships, and assertiveness training. With each accomplishment, more independence is given and more progress is expected.
The Addiction Recovery Center’s Family Education and Counseling Services
Family education can help you and your loved ones understand the disease and its causes, effects, and treatment. The Addiction Recovery Center’s world class facility provides this education in many ways, including lectures, discussions, activities, and group meetings. Family counseling is especially critical in treatment for adolescents. Parents need to be involved in treatment planning and follow-up care decisions for the adolescent. Family members and loved ones need to participate as fully as possible in our family education services.
“The decision to change can happen in an instant.
But the work of recovery goes on for life.”
