Continuing Support

At The Watershed, we recognize recovery is a life-long journey. We maintain contact with our patients after their discharge and offer a variety of alumni participation and aftercare opportunities. Hundreds of our alumni remain involved in alumni activities even years after treatment, and they tell us that helping others is a richly rewarding part of their lives. We are here for you!

Family Program

We often refer to the addict as the only patient, but addiction is a family disease. In order to successfully treat the addict, we must treat the family. That is why we offer a family program – to restore a healthy family dynamic and begin healing co-dependent relationships.

At The Watershed Alumni website, you can learn about The Watershed Family and read our Family Magazine, where you will find helpful articles to both support, enlighten, and encourage you in your journey of recovery. To learn more about this program, visit the “Family” section of www.livesinrecovery.com.

Keep in Touch

As Alumni of The Watershed, we want to make sure you are still receiving the support you need in your recovery. Whether you live in Florida, out of state, or out of the country, you can keep in touch with your friends at The Watershed easily. Also check out:

  • Watershed News and up-to-date announcements
  • Alumni Spotlight: Read stories of struggle and success from people just like you…and submit your own!
  • Monthly Alumni Newsletter: Keep up with Watershed events, stories of inspiration, and announcements
  • Message Boards: Be a part of on-line discussion topics, create your own topics, get help and support from your fellow alumni, and of course, be a help to others who may need to hear just what you have to say.

Be a Life Saver!

Become a part of our newest and most exciting aspect of the Alumni Program: The Life Saver’s Club! This club is all about SAVING LIVES. In its most condensed definition, The Life Saver’s Club is a service that allows its members the tools and support to help those people in your life currently caught in the grips of the progressive and fatal disease of addiction to get the very life saving help that they need.

The Life Savers Club also provides its members with services and information to benefit your life and allows us a way to recognize you and thank you for the efforts that you put forth in saving the life of another.

From an Alumni
“My name is Amy and I have been clean and sober since April 4th 2007. I wanted to write you and let you know that without the Watershed I would be dead. You all have given me the tools to cope with not only everyday life but the sharp turns that life sometimes takes.

Last year my daughter became ill and was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. They wouldn’t let me take her home from the hospital until I was able to give her the insulin shots she needed to survive. With sweat rolling down my back, I was able to load that syringe and administer the insulin to my daughter while convincing her it was no big deal and I would make everything as easy as possible for her. It was the hardest thing I had done since I made the phone call to the Watershed and asked for help!

Since then my daughter and I have grown closer than ever. We have started a hiking club for teenagers, we go to the library together, I’m volunteering at her school, and I helped chaperone her class trip to Space Camp. I could never have done any of these things while on drugs. Watershed helped me get my life back and for that I am grateful every day.”
